[Dorsal stabilization in multiple metastases of the thoratic spine in prostate carcinoma.].

The authors used successfully since 1991 for the treatment of injuries of thoratic spine (Th-1) dorsal instrumentation by means of an internal AO fixation device (Dick's fixation device). In some injuries e. g. fractures at several levels, pathological fractures and in particular in metastatic processes or spondylolistheses its application is limited. Since 1995 in the authors' department in these instances a new USS system is used. The latter makes it possible to fix several levels above each other, it is variable and flexible, has a lawer profile and volume. It ensures sufficient stability.
