Acta Chir Orthop Traumatol Cech. 2026; 93(4):203-210 | DOI: 10.55095/achot2026/016
Tendinopathies are common and hete- rogeneous, and recovery depends on both the local biological milieu and appropriately progressed mechanical loading. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is a biologically plausible adjunct, yet reported clinical effects are inconsistent, likely due to variation in phenotype, PRP formulation and dosing, delivery technique, and rehabilitation protocols. Ultrasound guidance improves injection accuracy and safety, but its incremental clinical value may be context dependent. This review outlines tendon-healing biology, summarizes evidence for conservative management, and appraises PRP - its putative mechanisms, sources of heterogeneity,...

Bacteriophage therapy has re-emerged as a potential adjunctive strategy in the management of orthopedic and trauma-related infections, particularly fracture-related infection (FRI) and periprosthetic joint infection (PJI). These conditions are associated with biofilm formation, repeated surgery, prolonged antimicrobial therapy, impaired functional outcomes, and increasing rates of multidrug-resistant pathogens. The therapeutic rationale of bacteriophages is based on their high specificity for target bacteria, their ability to replicate at the site of infection, and their potential activity against biofilm. Experimental studies have demonstrated reduced...
