[Ten years experience with the cementless alloclassic cup according to zweymüller.].
M Weissinger, C Helmreich
Acta Chir Orthop Traumatol Cech. 2000; 67(3):157-163
Because our department of orthopaedic surgery deals with the cementless hip replacement for more than 15 years, we have performed a retrospective study and a critical analysis of our patients. In the time between 01. 05. 1987 and 31. 12. 1989 we implanted 206 primary cement-free total endoprostheses of the hip in 190 patients. After an average time taken for postoperative check-ups of ten years and seven months we evaluated 133 hips (64,6 %) in 123 patients (64,7 %) clinically and radiologically. The clinical postoperative check-up according to the score of Merle d'Aubigne demonstrated very good and good results in 90 % of our cases. After 10,6 years...
[Lengthening Osteotomy of the Calcaneus in the Treatment of the Flat Foot in Children - Short-term Results.].
J Chomiak, P Dungl, O Adamec, R Hart
Acta Chir Orthop Traumatol Cech. 2000; 67(3):164-174
The aim of this communication is to provide both clinical and radiological evaluation of short-term results of the lengthening osteotomy of the anterior part of the calcaneus after Evans in the treatment of the flat foot in children and determine indication criteria of this operation. In the 1996-1999 period 35 feet were operated on in 23 children (13 boys, 10 girls), 12 children underwent bilateral surgery in the interval of 6-12 months. The average age at the time of surgery was 10,5 years and the age range 4,3-18,5. Most operations were performed in the age range of 11-15 years (16 operations). Indication to the operation was a symptomatic flexible...
[Arthroscopic subacromial decompression.].
A Podskubka, M Stasa, V Dvorák, J Vaculík
Acta Chir Orthop Traumatol Cech. 2000; 67(3):175-180
Arthroscopic subacromial decompression is a generally recognized method of the treatment of the primary impingement sydrome and is one of the basic arthroscopic methods. The data in literature present 73-94 % of good and very good results. From May 1993 till June 1996 we treated at our clinic 40 patients with arthroscopic subacromial decompression of which 38 patients were followed up. The average period of follow-up is 3 years (2-5 years). All patients had clinical symptoms of impingement syndrome prior to operation. The patients who were indicated to resection of the lateral part of the clavicula and suture of the rotator cuff were not incorporated...
[Intramedullary nailing of fractures of forearm in adults.].
S Taller, R Lukás, J Buchar
Acta Chir Orthop Traumatol Cech. 2000; 67(3):181-186
The authors present a three-year retrospective group of 32 adult patients with the diaphyseal fractures of the forearm treated surgically. Only in 3 cases a standard plate technique was used. All other surgeries were performed by intramedullary nailing using Prevot nails, strong Kirschner wires, True/Flex flexible nails and a bilaterally locked Foresight nail. Long-term results were in detail evaluated in a group of 15 patients with the implanted True/Flex nail. Minimum period of the follow-up was 6 months after operation, the average was 14,7 months. The nailing of both bones of the forearm with the use of a traction frame took on average 48 minutes....
[Arthroplasty according to colonna - 1999.].
M Kokavec, K Novorolský, V Bialik, F Makai
Acta Chir Orthop Traumatol Cech. 2000; 67(3):187-189
Authors evaluate results of arthroplasty according to Colonna. The surgery was performed at the Ist University department of orthopaedics in Bratislava in the period of 1955-1973. Of 97 patients (123 hips), 64 (79 hips) were followed up 5-25 years and 23 (31 hips) over 25 years. All patients at the last follow up for were assessed as having not satisfactory results, because of early pain at the operated side, limited movement of the hip joint and radiologically evident arthritic changes. Key words: Colonna, arthroplasty, DDH.
[Our Experience in the Revision Surgery of THR.].
V Stefanco, A Svec, L Rehák, F Makai, M Olos
Acta Chir Orthop Traumatol Cech. 2000; 67(3):190-196
The authors present their experience in the revision surgery of THR. Most often it was the case of aseptic loosening of the acetabulum, the femoral component or both components (67 %), lytic radioluscence or even lysis in the region of implants, fissures even fractures of the femur and septic loosening. They evaluate the results of revision surgeries of THR for a 5-year period in 106 patients after Merle dAubigne and Postel: excellent result was achieved in 33 %, good in 39 %, average in 19 % and a poor result in 9 %. The authors emphasize in case of primary surgery the importance of indication criteria, age of the patient, appropriate choice of the...
[A Rare Fracture-dislocation of Talus.].
J Masár, I Mudrák
Acta Chir Orthop Traumatol Cech. 2000; 67(3):197-199
In the introduction the authors analyze the issues of the fractures of talus which is a key connection between the foot and the lower limb. For the prognosis of the healing of fractures of the talus they consider the most important its retrograde vascularization. Further they decribe types of fractures of the talus according to Hawkins. In their view a certain role is played also by the mechanism of the injury. The core of the work is a case report of a 34-year old mountaineer who sustained a very rare fracturedislocation of the talus which was treated by open reduction and fixation by means of K-wires. During the 18-month follow-up they recorded a...
[The fate of first cup arthroplasty implanted in slovakia.].
B Steno, M Steno
Acta Chir Orthop Traumatol Cech. 2000; 67(3):200-202
Authors describe a case of a patient, by whom the first cup arthroplasty in Slovakia was implanted by prof. Cervenanský in 1948. 17 years after the implantation a gradual onset of limitation in motion began. A painfull contracture developed with a functional shortening of the lower extremity. 50 years after the implantation of the cup arthroplasty a conversion to a cemented total hip prosthesis was successfuly realised with a good result. Key words: cup arthroplasty, prof. Cervenanský, conversion.
[Hip dislocation with ipsilateral femoral shaft fracture.].
L Tomcovcík, M Kitka
Acta Chir Orthop Traumatol Cech. 2000; 67(3):203-209
Dislocation of the hip with fracture of the ipsilateral shaft of femur occurs very rarely. Authors report three cases of this combined injury. The most frequent problems concerning this injury such as difficult reduction of the hip dislocation, delayed diagnosis and treatment of the hip dislocation, avascular necrosis of the head of the femur, sciatic nerve palsy, simultaneous fracture of the acetabulum and the head of the femur are discussed. Early closed reduction of the hip joint is difficult because the long lever of the femoral shaft and classical methods of reduction cannot be used. Diagnosis, methods of the reduction and following treatment...

Indication for conservative treatment in the blunt injuries of the liver and the spleen have been recently significantly extended. On the example of the case histories and discussion in the literature the authors specify the necessary conditions, difficulties and results of this procedure. Key words: conservative treatment, injury of the liver, injury of the spleen.
